GM Delivers Motability Vehicle to Stanley Murphy for his 3rd Birthday

1 minute read time

Stanley Murphy from Newton Abbot, who has Tay-Sachs disease, a rare fatal genetic disorder which causes progressive damage to the nervous system, had been denied help to to get a specially adapted vehicle through the Motability scheme because he was under the age of three.

Until now, children under three have their applications to get especially-adapted vehicles through the scheme refused. But now Motability is changing its policy after the issue was highlighted with Stanley Murphy.

On Stanleys third birthday GM Coachwork took great pleasure in delivering a new Motability vehicle to Stanley’s parents, Kevin and Emma. The above picture shows Dave Christie, Motability Salesman, handing over the vehicle to Kevin. Nigel Collins, GM Coachwork’s Managing Director stated “it was a privilege to be a part of the process in producing and delivering this vehicle to Stanley and his family”.

Since being able to have access to an adapted vehicle both Kevin and Emma have said it has given them the opportunity to leave the house and make memories together as a family. They are looking forward to many more days out as a family in the new year ahead.
